Hi Jenny!
I have a classmate who seems depressed. She is really nice and people like her, but I think she doesn't like herself.
I worry about her. How can I help her make friends and be happy?
Thanks!

Dear Inside Out:
I think you should find your friend's positive traits and compliment her. This will make her proud to be herself! You are a good friend to notice her positive qualities and that people like her.
Try to talk to her more and she will open up to you. Maybe she will share why she is down. You may find out she is just shy and not depressed at all.
Finally, you can introduce her to your friends and get her more involved socially. If you have difficulties getting closer and encouraging her to be social, there is always the professional counseler, Ms. Park Youngsook, in the office accross from Admin 2.
Thank you so much for your concern for others. It's why we started Ask Jenny in the first place!
